This district, which Mehmet the conqueror said "I have entrusted this city to Allah", is nowadays getting ready to make a name for itself with branded housing projects and investment opportunities.

It is located on the European side. The 1,715 km² district has a coast to both the Marmara Sea and the Black Sea. Most of the area is covered by forests. The length of the beach is 135 km and the distance to the centre is 55 km. It is neighbour to Avcılar, Küçükçekmece, Gaziosmanpaşa Büyükçekmece and Silivri as well as Tekirdağ province. It is the largest district in Istanbul in terms of area.
